How Great Thou Artby jmsetzlerComment by jmsetzler: Well, If you would like my interpetation of that specific verse taken completely out of context, I would suppose that it means that it is against God's word to create a statue (idol), or any other likeness for the purpose of worship. However, I don't interpret it this way when it's put in context of the ten commandments. I don't particularly care to discuss the ramifications of individual bits of scripture that are taken out of context. I prefer to evaluate them on a larger scale and in context with the overall teachings in conjunction with what I have been taught throughout my own life. :) |

Left Behindby jmsetzlerComment by LucidLotus: Wonderful image! I love the detail and focus. Lighting is great. Use of b&w is perfect. Has a definite feeling of solitude and loneliness. I even like how the bird in the forefront looks to be different from the ones in the background - gives it that extra bit of separation. A very well done image. 10 |

How Great Thou Artby jmsetzlerComment by stevenayer: He is great - no doubt - but I wonder how you interpret the following scripture from Deuteronomy 5:8
"You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. 9 You shall not bow down to them or worship them;
PS If this is a sore point of something that you'd rather not discuss, simply do not reply. I'm not interested in stirring up animosity.
If, however, you're interested to discuss it - then I guess I'll be hearing from you! |

Left Behindby jmsetzlerComment by BeingClever: I had to laugh a little when i saw this, the birds posture is excellent, looks just like a kid in the playground who is looking down, shuffling his feet because he has no one to play with. B&W was a good choice for this. My only improvement would be to try to make the other birds in the background look a little less blown out. |

Left Behindby jmsetzlerComment by bruski: The light in this image is excellent. I personally would have liked to have seen the bird even more off center, but that is just my personal taste. |
