Nostalgieby odriewComment by Senay: I was just looking through your portfolio after the critique I gave you. I really like this image, The hanging tree branches (I think that's what they are at least) make nice diagonal lines with that white line in the background. Also I scored this pretty high during voting :). Good stuff! |

Centenarianby odriewComment by Senay: Greetings from the Critique Club!
Sorry about the wait for your critique, this is coming out of the backlog!
First off I just want to say that not everyone is a fan of sun flare, I've used it in an image and it didn't do too great. Personally I'm neutral, I'm not going to vote an image down just for having it. Usually it adds some nice colours and gives the picture a cool effect. Like what you did with it here. I gave this a 7 during voting, the only thing I would have liked to see added to this picture would be the tree in full if possible. The meeting of sky and earth through the tree is really nice though, good greens and blues. You finished in the top 50% at least!

Eavesdroppingby odriewComment by Paul: m going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: What an interesting image! It actually took me a few seconds to see the bird, so compelling are the couple. I really like the coloration too - there seem to be two distinct sets of tomes to my eye, which I like.
Critical stuff: I think I'd have either corrected for the lens distortion or set the top of the ledge to bird sits on as my horizontal reference (though I can see the gap between the panes is vertical). The image perhaps lacks a tad of sharpness / depth of field but this doesn't hurt it too much.
Overall: A very nice image, full of interest. I'm glad you offered it up. |
