I was driving home from school when I came upon this hill with a bunch of these "dead" trees so I pulled over and climbed up the hill lol. I was drawn to this one since it looked like a hunched back elderly (hence, the title). I thought the setting sun was fitting to the metaphor

People don't seem to like the harsh sun but these "imperfections" (the sun, purple lens flare) are what I like the best about the picture. I have one that doesn't have the flare but it just seemed too sterile.

But anyway, here it is...

I would recognize that tree anywhere. And his friends up on the hill. :)

Greetings from the Critique Club!

Sorry about the wait for your critique, this is coming out of the backlog!

First off I just want to say that not everyone is a fan of sun flare, I've used it in an image and it didn't do too great. Personally I'm neutral, I'm not going to vote an image down just for having it. Usually it adds some nice colours and gives the picture a cool effect. Like what you did with it here. I gave this a 7 during voting, the only thing I would have liked to see added to this picture would be the tree in full if possible. The meeting of sky and earth through the tree is really nice though, good greens and blues. You finished in the top 50% at least!

If you have any questions click here to message me!

Better if the sun does not cut the tree in half? I suppose you will get comments about the purple portion, but I still looked at this picture for a long time, enjoying the whole

I like ths very much. Just today I was thinking to myself, "Why can'tI find a really cool lone tree to take a picture of?" The only thing I would have done differently is to cropped out some of the grass.
