Day 8~Loosestrife~by annigComment by MaryO: Processing looks good to me. I might crop more so it's not so centered ... off the right, I think, so the point of the flower heads more or less towards the corner of the crop. |

Day 7 Bee Balm & Pestby annigComment by annig: Originally posted by RKT: Awesome clarity and focus...I too am dealing with these rotten little critters at the moment...for a week or so they seemed to be done, now they've returned full force...gotta get one of those traps. |
actually, I've been told those traps act to lure MORE of the suckers into the area...I stick with good old fashioned Squashing (yuck!) or dropping them in gasoline is very effective too, if you like torturing them as well... :) |

Day 7 Bee Balm & Pestby annigComment by banmorn: THe tones in the BW are quite fine and was a great way to go. Now about the flower...might be a regional thing but this is not what I think of as Bee Balm. I think petals in a circle that are bright red or purple and spiky.... guess they can both be bee balms and they are both in the mint family....fascinating. I defer to others for names in most cases so keep that in mind :)! |

Summer Morningby annigComment by annig: Originally posted by chaimelle: It seems like you took it in bright sunlight, or maybe its just over saturated. Either way, it has a harsh look to me. I like the bee on the flower, but it seems too close of a crop on the flower, and a softer light or less processing might bring out more detail in the center of the flower and the bee. Personally I would try to tone down the yellow overtones in the green of the background, but I am always taking out some yellow so it is probably just me. |
looking at this after the fact, & after spending this past week in the Floral side challenge, I agree with just about everything you say here! Thanks for the feedback..I would have backed off a bit, included the cropped off right edge of the front petal, and probably desat'd the color a bit. they are very bright like this though, even on rainy days, and one of the reasons they are so welcome in my garden!! |

Day 7 Bee Balm & Pestby annigComment by JLC: These are both beautiful. I am not sure which one I like best, but I think it is this one. Your florals are wonderful! |
