Congrats!

The tripod thing isn't about security; they charge professional crews (think movie studios) to get a permit to use tripods.

Also, it's such a photogenic system, imagine if 40 people set up tripods - quite the traffic blocker.

As far as simply taking pics, I've had cops and station managers ask me what I'm up to. I happily show them my results and say I'm an amateur photographer, and they've never bothered me beyond that.

The colors are too muted. IMO including the tree in the composition did not help. I probably would have shot at a spot more to the left , focused the composition more on just the terrain & the river with less sky. 5

Perhaps they think the tripod is a danger physically (tripping someone in case of a fire??) instead of security.

This is a great shot. You turned this dingy place into something that looks rather nice. Good job. I hear you about the tripod/security thing. Don't understand it either. I was recently at the Lincoln memorial and received the same treatment.
