I like both images but feel the blue toning fits the challenge better. What I really like are the lines and patterns on the beach. For me, you should include more beach so the horizon isn't dead center. I'd also like to see less contrast and sharpening in the stones, lighthouse and sky. A subtle DOF with the beach being the sharpest element in you composition. Others will disagree with my critique so take it for what it's worth.

Would have liked to see the rider better. Blends into the dark background. Think either the background could have gone darker or the man lighter in post processing.. Nice shot though.

I really like the scene. But I'm not a fan of the heavy blue. Try toning it down a but to see what you get.
