Composition is ok if your subject was the mouth. A wider shot might have been more interesting. Also trying to capture the eyes. Getting more of the eyes you can bring out the mood of the picture.

Lowering the ISO would help with the noise. When taking pictures object near water the reflections play havok with the auto setting. Manually adjusting the ISO and EV settings would give you a better shot.

That last pencil isn't level with the others, and a different colour background (like purple) could have provided some contrast.

I didn't think of building my own monument! I'd have used a newer one on the top though, to make sure the image of Lincoln was a little clearer.
