I was surprised to see this place in the 51% percentile. Not because I don't like it --- I do. I thought I was getting slammed in the voting. I'm starting to catch on that there is a curve system at work. I happen to like the light coming in over his head. I know it's considered a 'flaw' but I think in this case it adds to the atmosphere of the scene. If I had my druthers there would be more detail in the machinery and no cord hanging down over his head...but if you read my shot details you'll know I was lucky to get what I did.

Thanks to the folks who commented! I feel pretty good with my ranking all things considered. :D

I guess I should have just looked for a different shot. Here is the original I took. It is much better in terms of focus but it could use some cropping also. This is was taken on an overcast day just after rain. The overcast lighting displays the color so much better. I took this the day before the challenge started.

Looks a little blurry to me. The contrast is "flat" as well. Try using PS to increase the contrast.

This photo doesn't capture the idea of the passed challenge in an interesting way. There isn't anything of actual visual appeal about it, so a close up shot of it doesn't make for a dynamic photo.
