Kestrelby scottiehamComment by MelonMusketeer: Nice sky and good light for the subject in this shot. Kestrels are one of my fav birds to see in flight. They make it look so effortless to fly fast and turn quickly. |

Kestrelby scottiehamComment by MaryO: Cute for a predator ;-) That wildlife sanctuary you've been shooting at is really a treasure trove! |

Female Hairy Woodpeckerby scottiehamComment by MaryO: Hard to tell from this angle; I usually look at head shape and relative bill size (Hairys that I see have longer bills than Downys). That's if the size difference isn't blatant enough for me to tell right off (and it usually is). But then I usually see them at my birdfeeders so they're pretty close and differences are easy to see.
The crop here isn't that bad (the bird's eye looks nice and sharp), but you did get cyan fringing along various edges. Since there are few colors in the scene I might try B&W. |

Turkey Vultureby scottiehamComment by ErikV: The wing tips are awesome.
[Reminds self not to sit still too long for fear it will mistake me for its next meal.] |

Gray Catbirdby scottiehamComment by MaryO: Catbird looks good (kinda' young with that fluffy head); great detail in the eye, especially. Should be pretty easy to clone out the bright twigs; alternatively, you could color them or make them darker so they blended into the background more. |

Gray Catbirdby scottiehamComment by Steef: i agree with ErikV buddy. with the way the background is you could probably clone it out very easily. i didn't get a shot as good as this of this guy. way to steal the better locations :P |

Gullby scottiehamComment by MaryO: Nice portrait. You could crop even closer if you wanted; he's kind of centered. I think I'd lop off enough on the left so he had about as much room there as he has on the top now. |

Gray Catbirdby scottiehamComment by ErikV: Nice and sharp. And I agree the eye is great. Nicely done.
BTW, the background twigs would be quite easy to clone out and this would really take this image over the top. |
