The DPChallenge Votes Start Rolling Inby GreetmirComment by NikonJeb: I just love this, Greetmir! The expression, the B&W, the grain slammed like crazy, the title driving the cause of the expression. A superb melding of elements guaranteed to garner a low score and render a fantastic picture and story! Good work, sir! |

Smilesby GreetmirComment by smyk: I like the all around editing except for the brick pattern that you added. In my opinion it makes the shot "cheap". As in I find it to be a cheap way of showing people that you can use photoshop. But other than that, I like the processing.

Smilesby GreetmirComment by pixeldust: When asking for critique of your technique, it might be helpful to have more comments from you explaing what techniques you used. The picture seems a little flat to me, though it has great potential. I like the diagonals in it. That goes well with the mood of the picture. I tried darkening the shadows a little with curves adjustment and liked the effect a little better. |

Smilesby GreetmirComment by puzzled: I kind of like it and kind of don't :-) The picture itself is awesome. I like the angle a lot. I think I like the overlay, too but maybe it might appeal to me more if it were darker or faded, or perhaps both. Also, I wonder how it would be if you tried masking out some parts of the overlay while leaving other parts in. It's so much fun experimenting with processing techniques! |

Black To Moveby GreetmirComment by noraneko: I didn't vote in these challenges, as I was leaving on my vacation, so this is the first time to see this photo. I can't evaluate it as a chess player, since I don't play, so will attempt to assess on photographic merits alone.
First, I will say good white balance and excellent tonal range. You have the whole spectrum covered, which makes for a much better shot. The lighting seems solid, and the composition is fine (though the perspective is a bit skewed from above).
I noticed almost all of your comments are from chess players :-) Maybe I should take up the game, and then I would understand better why this is bad. Message edited by author 2007-02-15 20:47:12. |

Heather's New Carby GreetmirComment by Wink: What a great all purpose ad with a beautiful model. You could use it to advertise shoes, cars, dresses or hairstyles. And nice rescue job too, but it looks like you had a lot to start with. |
