Day 10: Coffee Beanby EstimatedEyesComment by JMart: mmmmm coffeeeee... The DOF is very narrow, but as far as matching up, it seems to me like the focal plane cuts through the bean at the same angle the camera must have been on for the shot. I think the trick on the eyes is just because it's harder to conceptualize that plane on a steep angle rather than perpendicular. Just thinking about the mystery aloud :) |

Day 10: Coffee Beanby EstimatedEyesComment by Alicia: Yes, what you said in your notes. It's like a trick for the eyes - where's the focus? In front? In back? However, I love the composition and the giant coffee bean - great idea. |

Zabriskie Pointby EstimatedEyesComment by Melethia: I had no problem discerning what it was and sharing your enjoyment of the stark contrast in colors. This could be very subjective (ha!) because I happen to really like rocks and formations and stuff. Your other commenters have provided potential reasons why it didn't score higher. It is a pretty cool shot, though. |

Day 9: Fleur de Selby EstimatedEyesComment by carofo: Never seen such a dark red salt. I have himalayan salt at home, which is pink and that's as close as I've come to see something similar. You must have been really close, above 1:1 IMO, to get such big crystals. I know Camargue is so tiny, it looks like flakes. Great macro. |
