The End Day 30by emily212Comment by MelonMusketeer: It's been a good month, and your images and comments have been enjoyable to all of us in the 30 day challenge. I agree with the spring or summer 30 day thing too, but maybe only weekly instead of daily. Let each pick the most convienent day of the week to post. That way everyone could keep up easier with commenting and posting pics.
I like your mountain images best, and the old ranger's cabin shot was just perfect. |

The End Day 30by emily212Comment by Alicia: So pretty - the sky, the snow, the trees. Good shot. I agree that we should do it again in the summer (for the northern hemisphere). It will be interesting to see all these snowy places in a different season. Thanks for all your comments and your great pics!

Afternoon Stroll in the Snowby emily212Comment by jdannels: Greetings from the Critique Club
My first reaction to this shot I notice the good use of selective desaturation and the red running through the image. Second I looked harder for a point of interest that ties the subject into the scene somehow and I don't see that as much. The reds show a continous theme but most likely doesnt have enough interest to get higher votes. When I think of street photography I like to see something unexpected or a play between the subject and its environment. That is just my personal opinion.
I really like the snow through the shot, although as commented already, with your choice of editing the snow seems to blend into the desaturated areas and could be missed by those quick viewer/voters. I really like the editing and although many of the whites are bright and black very dark I feel it was the best choice for this image, the subject is really well placed and are a strong focus in the image. The pole on the right really give a nice natural border.
I wish the edge of the truck was not cut off, if it wasn't saturated I think it would have been less of an issue for me, but since it is the largest colored object in the scene, it was probably dinged a point by most voters IMO. If I was shooting this person I may have waited to try som alternate shots of what she does, maybe crossing the street to see a different background, or get some more action, or just to see what else comes up.
I hope this helps out somewhat and if you have any questions or comments feel free to send me a PM :)

Buffalo Day 29by emily212Comment by Bruce_the_Robert: Buffalo are wonderful animals, and this is a really nice shot of one. They were fighting, huh? That's actually a bit scary, I would think, unless you were pretty far away! |
