Going To California (Led Zeppelin IV)by J-MeComment by Melethia: I thought this was hilarious - I seriously got a kick out of it. In looking at it again, I've got to say that it's also well done in my opinion. Very good exposure, color, for shooting against snow. Good choice of lowish light to use to give you that. Well composed, too. I'm kind of at a loss as to how to tell you to get this score above a 6. It should have. I think my little experiment with the thread you posted this to is simply telling me that there sometimes is no real reason a shot doesn't score as well as it should. This meets the challenge, has humor, is technically pretty good. Perhaps someone with more technial expertise can help you along those lines. And tell your hubby he is a great sport! |

Going To California (Led Zeppelin IV)by J-MeComment by wheeledd: Jamie,
I'm posting a comment because you asked for comments in the thread Deb started. I'm afraid I can't help much. I'm not a Led Zeppelin fan so I didn't vote on this challenge and I haven't even looked through the winners. I don't know any of the lyrics so all the titles just go whizzing past me.
So I'm looking at this just as a picture without reference to the music. It's obviously humorous; I was ROFLMAO! It shows a guy who is definitely in the wrong place or at the wrong time, yet he is pressing on, seemingly oblivious to the snow. But his expression shows that it is getting to him.
It is technically good. I like the backlighting. It is nice that you have the dark background of the bushes so that his hair stands out.

Going To California (Led Zeppelin IV)by J-MeComment by EstimatedEyes: I gave you a 7. I thought it fit the song real well, especially the way he's holding the guitar like he's going to attack the song, rather than just sitting back and playing a simple melody. The humor is a nice touch -- the hawaiian style shirt in the snow is priceless. It also helps that your husband looks like he would not have been out of place at a Zep show in the '70s (assuming his hair was a bit longer back then). |

Going To California (Led Zeppelin IV)by J-MeComment by TheStick: I didn't get to vote but I really like this image! Some voters do pass through the challenge pretty quickly and with the somewhat tight crop the snow doesn't stand out as much IMHO and the humor was greatly lost on some. |

From Days Gone Byby J-MeComment by colorcarnival: lol, I just sent an email. Not only was it a 6+ photo but it's also your new personal best! Look at you! That is awesome. I love the beautiful golds and browns in this. I see that you are able to combine your painting skills with photography now. Keep it up and who knows down what path this will lead you :) |
