his majestyby PhotoDaveComment by KaDi: A nice portrait of a deer.
The overcast sky helps even out the exposure of the entire image...that's nice. But there's lost life-lights in the eyes on days like that. Still, it's a good capture for illustration.
A couple of background things that bother me:
--the orange leaf
--the globular shape between the antlers
--the definition in the background twigs...perhaps a little selective blur to take care of what the lens could not would be in order? |

lill birdby PhotoDaveComment by KaDi: This is a beautiful shot of a chickadee! The texture in the feathers is sweet. The separation of the eye from it's black "cap" is hard to achieve.
However, I don't see the reason for the left half of the image. Yes it puts the bird on one of the "thirds"...but it doesn't really add to the story. If the bird were facing the other direction it would...here he's looking out of the frame. I'd rather see a centered subject than one that leads my eye out of frame. Have you considered making a crop to portrait orientation? |

his majestyby PhotoDaveComment by colorcarnival: I like this one better than the "proud profile" because he is engaging the viewer. In the other one, there is a branch in front of the body, which to me, was slightly distracting or out of place. Here the branch on the left is just a natural part of the scenery. The animal is in focus and the background is not, which is great for your subject. I wish I could get close-ups of animals like these. It's gorgeous and I think this is a great picture! |

lill birdby PhotoDaveComment by Melethia: I really like the composition, and the "white" of this - nice touches of white throughout, from the snow, the branches, and the bird, all set off nicely by the almost pastel blue. |

Triptych snow jobby PhotoDaveComment by noraneko: Great captures, nice to see the whole series. One suggestion - change the middle image to the right-hand side. The reason is that the deer is looking back into the image, which will help keep the eyes from "wandering" out. The current image on the right does draw eyes out a bit IMO. Love the first image with the deer licking the snow. Awesome! |

Triptych snow jobby PhotoDaveComment by Nald: Great capture for sure! I agree with glad2badad about the deer body alignment. Perhaps focus on the each of the deer's heads? Crop in a little bit tighter on the center and right frames a tad is my suggestion. Also I'm not to sure about the black frame, perhaps surrounding it in another colors like a deep brown or rust color with the black to give it a more rustic feel? JM2C.
A beautiful series of shots that you should be VERY proud of.

Triptych snow jobby PhotoDaveComment by glad2badad: The subject is cute, and each photo individually is nice, but in a triptych it seems disjointed and hard to look at. I think it's because of the alignment of the deer body that we don't see. It bleeds from one frame into the next. Just an observation. Wonderful catch on getting these images! |
