I am thinking of getting a canvas made of this, and it would have been so disappointing to look at it and realise that the horizon was out. I don't agree. There's nothing in the Impressionist approach that precludes comfortable, pleasing work. They were all about capturing fleeting nuances of life and the immediacy of the everyday. It is true that in their own time, people did not FIND the work "comfortable and pleasing", for the most part, but that's because they were not familiar with it, its approaches. Modern viewers find most impressionist works to be very soothing and serene.
