This is actually much cooler than if you had been close up - because it gives us a sneaky-pie kind of feeling. The bird clearly has no clue that you are there. Ha! Great colors, too - and all that wild foliage (spoken as someone who lives in dry barrenness).

I know what you mean about the square crop issue, but imo by going for the centred image you have worked around this. May be a tad oversharpened for some peoples tastes but to me it really gives the shot a 3d feel as if Katee is about to leap out of the screen

Wonderful action capture all 4 feet (sorry paws) of the ground is brilliant
