This turned out beautifully and no dahlias were harmed... Seriously, the dahlia is still a dahlia, and the geometric transformation only calls attention to her structure. Beautiful red, happy composition, and no band-aid box.

i googled chlorox, thinking it might'v been some hallucinogenic substance .. lol .. but was surprised to find its a household bleach .. so in answer to your question, i dont think chlorox would'v helped one little bit .. and anyway, i dont think it needs any help ..
love the vibrant colours and the centre of the flower, so contrasty .. excellent the way you've 'bled' it off .. great approach .. i dont think i'll be needing anymore drugs, i'll be getting my fix daily from your images ... lol ... :)
