I like this photograph. Perhaps the exposure could have been bumped up a setting as it seems just a touch dark. I like the composition and the bokeh is great!

I love the colors of the picture and the frame choice is a great balance. I think it is hard to get quite the right lighting when it is not a "studio" shot. So this is a great capture of a candid in my opinion. This will make a great family memento!

Hi Deb - I liked your idea here. I think the black background actually detracts from the picture. It's too harsh of a contrast. Since you are going for an old-time feel here, I would like to have seen this on a lighter table, maybe wood even, and then gone sepia. And then tone down the grain a tad, since the paper is already old. Also, I would have liked to have seen the sharp focus on the foreground rather than the background. Not a bad placement for a challenge this large! :o)

in my time at DPC I've always gotten bad comments about my frames - and never ever once has someone told me they wish my unframed photo had one.

The very strong lighting overpowering your subject (with the background almost all the way to black) makes this feel like a snapshot. Hard to give that a great score framed or not. :-)

Hope that's helpful. I'm sure it's a great memory to have captured.
