IMG_2226swan.jpgby JerseyGenieComment by roz: WOW ... you've really given this photograph a wonderful contrast and depth ..
ann mentioned one way of getting detail in blown out areas .. here's another .. using shadow/highlight is a wonderful tool and you can adjust the sliders to get the most exact changes .. AND you can use it in a basic edit which is always a plus .. :) |

IMG_2226swan.jpgby JerseyGenieComment by Ann: Quite an improvement. I like the increased density of the water, especially. That contrasts with the swan really well.
What is that red dot behind the swan? Maybe it could be cloned out?
I'm also wondering about the unevenness of the burning of the grass and greenery along the shore. Chunks of greenery are noticeably brighter than others. Was that intentional?
Is there any detail on the swan's back, or is that totally blown out? If there's any detail, using a curves layer in multiply mode with just the swan selected will bring out the detail. |

IMG_0149peacock.jpgby JerseyGenieComment by MaryO: No fair complaining about missing a squirrel shot and then posting a gorgeous PEACOCK!
Did you use a texture overlay on this? Kinda' looks like it. The stripey effect of the background grasses is really nice. I love the colors, of course, and the fact that the bird is looking kind of contemplative. Think I would play with dodging some to bring out the lighting, which is rather subtle. Then again, how often does one see a peacock in a subtle light ;-) |
