Matrioshkaby ChiquiComment by adine: Fun. Lovely detail of the paint job on the larger doll. Wish I could see more the the dolls - a whole line up as they get smaller and smaller? Why stop at two? The yellow background clashes a little with the gold and I wish the lighting were less flat. |

Juneisyby ChiquiComment by Sonifo: Great post. It almost looks like an old photo. The picture seems a bit out of focus. not sure what could have happened because it looks like the timer was set. maybe you moved when the shutter when off. Nice lighting. good luck. |

Juneisyby ChiquiComment by carolee: Blurry, which is a minus, and not enough contrast between the hair and the background, but I like the almost painterly pose. |

Juneisyby ChiquiComment by Pidd: A classic look. When I saw this, I immediately thought of the commissioned paintings of royalty you might see over the fireplace in some elite home. I'm torn on whether I find the softness of the focus a distraction or whether it evokes a romantic feel. Remember the old-time movies when the close-ups of the starlette were slightly out of focus? That's what this looks like and it's not altogether a bad technique. |

Juneisyby ChiquiComment by robsmith: The soft focus works well. Unfortunately I find the earring too bright and my eye keeps getting drawm to it. |

Matrioshkaby ChiquiComment by dsidwell: These are certainly off center, and the yellow of the background goes with the yellow in the objects themselves. I'm not sure why I'm only lukewarm to this shot. It may be that the photo is so straightforward. Perhaps I can't see how you've interpreted these objects in any way. It looks like you just took a picture of them? Does that make sense? Anyway, darker lighting, or less direct lighting might help; you might try experimenting. The off center composition does add some interest, and seems to add an artistic flair rather than accomplishing what off center usually does: imply that there is more beyond the frame of the picture. Hmmm. Still, good clarity and focus, and depth of field works very well for me. Good luck! |
