Lazy Susanby Crafty SueComment by pcody: I have the same type of problem sometimes. I get so wrapped up into the value of the object to me, I can't see how others will see it.
If you would want to try this one again, maybe get a little lower and closer to the plate. If that is a wood table under the plate, take the cloth off and let the wood show. Your lighting is good and the f2 should have been wide enough to get a shallower dof. I think the whole problem was caused because of the distance between you and the plate and because the point of view was more parallel to the plate.
Good luck on your future submissions. |

Great Miami River- Hamiltonby Crafty SueComment by e301: I like the high-key, but your framing and composition of this image make that seem like an accident. For me, you shoudl have placed the horizon higher in frame, and shown more of the foreground - that would provide balance between the two land-masses, and reduce the top of frame negative space (which seems to add very little in terms of impact). |

Great Miami River- Hamiltonby Crafty SueComment by khkai: overexposed water and sky, and underexposed trees. You need to play with exposure setting and metering much more. Otherwise, the picture would've been pretty nice. |

Great Miami River- Hamiltonby Crafty SueComment by leaf: this image has too much contrast. If you look in the river and sky, there is no detail, only white and white. The tree's on the right are only black. I am not sure if you adjusted the constrast after you shot this, or if it was just a VERY sunny day, which creates a very contrasting picture. Or perhaps the picture was overexposed (too light) to start with (from the river, the camera may have measured wrong) and you tried to darken it. The whites stayed white, and the tree's just got black. |

Lazy Susanby Crafty SueComment by brett2004: Where is the shallow DOF? The entire picture is in focus. Could have used a better light source to add interest, and the background is distracting. I see no way this picture conforms to the challenge. |
