Awww, Svetlana...what a compelling image and what an amazing story. I know a little animal communication and the squirrel was doing his best to tell you something was wrong, but didn't know how to convey it...it was trying its best.

I know this because a red squirrel lives in a barn where I work and often scampers back and forth in full view.

A little over a month ago now I found a red squirrel, drowned in a water trough outside. I emptied out the trough, carefully took the body and put it where it wanted to be.

I believe that was this particular squirrel's mate.

And not long ago I took a photo of a red squirrel.

Probably by the time you read this it will be my new PB and have finished in I hope the top 30% of Wildlife IV.

Listen to the animals; what they are trying to tell you with odd behaviour may not be apparent at the time, but will be soon.
