The focus in this picture, rocks! I love the prop also, nice microphone! Just brings you back to the 30's, 40's and radio broadcasting. Well, not really since I wasn't born near that time, but...

The angle looks a bit wierd to me, and is the person wearing glasses? But it is a good idea, not so obviuos and the shot is clean (maybe a bit too overexposed, but you probably did it on purpose). Just this tiny part of glasses is distracting me. maybe I'm just too picky. 7.

Comment by MrsFuzzButt:
Lighting is a little harsh, but short of the spot on the glasses it doesn't really harm the photo. I would lose the eye glasses and reshoot. Otherwise, I like the idea and the placement. The focus is good

This is one of my favorite photographs of the challenge. I can offer no suggestions for improvement, I can only hope to rise to this level one day.

:: Hello from the Critique Club ::
............................................................

This is a good idea and the chocoalte has really got my tste buds in a headlock.

However, the lighting and composition have lessened it's impact and potential significantly. I would place this kind of shot in the same category as 'sexy chocolate' for purposes of technique, in which case i would have made the following adjustments:

> Shoot lower down and closer to the free segment
> Don't use head-on flash. It's harsh and flattens the subject.
> Try to use multiple, directional light sources - as if it is in sexy, low lighting. This would give form to the subject and suggest context
> Use a tripod (you may have anyway)
> Attempt to make the chocolate look 'perfect'. A professional shoot would definitely demand that the subject would appear as appetising as possible.
> Spread the two elements further apart to improve composition
> Experiment with the depth of field - getting in close on each part with narrow DOF to see what looks best.
> Consider a more appropriate surface - maybe reflective to enhance the composition, add interest and insinuate cleanliness

Hope this helps. : )
