Bowie vs Westwood: 1st down Bowie!by GordonComment by nborton: i really like this shot. the only advice i have even though there is nothing you could really do about it, is that the left arm looks like it is missing at first and its the only very blurred part of the player as a whole which makes it kinda distracting. however, i still feel this should be a top shot this week. |

Bowie vs Westwood: 1st down Bowie!by GordonComment by moodville: Having the helmet and upper torso of the 'main' player be in focus and the rest slightly out of it works well for this image. I'm not an expert of sports photography, and admit to not even reading much of the sports pages, but most of the images I recall always seem to be a select few players (perhaps it's a compositional thing), however, the fact that the frame is crowded by players emphasises the rush of the 'main' player. His struggle is obvious, the expression on his face suggests it, and the guy behind him looks like he's coming right for him too. This is a shot that makes me want to know what happened next, which would probably be explained in an accompanying article. It clearly demonstrates action, and dirty, strenous action at that. Very nicely captured. |

Bowie vs Westwood: 1st down Bowie!by GordonComment by alanfreed: Apparently one of the FEW first downs of that one for Bowie! Sorry they blew it to the tune of 36-6! :) Overall this turned out very nicely... the guy's helmet is in great focus and you captured a good moment. I may have tried cropping a little closer around the runner. There's a bit of stuff on the right in particular that doesn't really add to the shot. My only other suggestion would have been to try a faster shutter speed to eliminate some of the motion blur, but depending on the camera that's not always an easy possibility. Anyhow -- overall a great job! Hopefully they'll do better against McNeil this Friday :) |
