Essentialsby GordonComment by ButterflySis: What?! 101st place?! That's insane. Just because the subject was a simple household item? This is one of the better shots in the whole contest. Take a look at some of those shots that scored higher...why?
Oh well. Nice job, Gordon.

Cibolo Vaqueroby GordonComment by LindaLee: I love the shot, the sepia tone, the composition. Visually interesting. It doesn't really seem to be "soft focus", but I guess it does have an overall kind of soft "feel" to it. 8 |

Cibolo Vaqueroby GordonComment by adine: Almost feels like infared. Very bright. Nice tone, nice range. Almost missed the man there, would see him better if he were infront of the building. The soft focus adds to the sense of it being infared and gives it a touch of an "olden days" feel. |

Cibolo Vaqueroby GordonComment by robsmith: An interesting shot but not one which says soft focus to me. This may be due to the limited display size and resolution, I would like to see it as a 30 x 20 print, or to the fact that any hard edges, the softening of which, to me, make the soft focus effect are absent. |

Cibolo Vaqueroby GordonComment by Konador: This is a nice overall shot, which I like, but there are a couple of things that seem a bit off. Firstly, the line above the cowboy doesn't seem horizontal which kind of throws things off a bit, even if it IS actually straight. The other thing is that there are some weird vertical lines in the sky, which look like paper that has gotten damp, if you know what I mean? They spoil the smoothness of it for me. I'm also not 100% sure that it fits my personal definition of 'soft focus' as it all seems pretty sharp to me, but I'll give you (like many of the other photos) the benefit of the doubt. Still, very nice photo, 7. |
