The Early Bird !by Dim7Comment by e301: Lacks - well a bunch of stuff really, other than a difficult moment to catch. I'm not sure that difficulty provides enough imapct to overcome the shortcomings of the shot however. Focus, detail, plasticity are all missing, and frankly it doesn't really call out for a centred composition - doesn't depend on it for its impact, if you see what I mean. 5 - for some sense of personality. |

The Early Bird !by Dim7Comment by Fotowereld: great catch! That worm's days are over!! Unfortunately you seemed to have zoomed in too much so that the overall picture became unsharp..pity... |

The Early Bird !by Dim7Comment by cghubbell: Some significant focus problems here. Nice timing on getting the shot; sometimes its not easy to make everything technicalyl perfect before your subject flies away. Keep trying - I'd love to see this one in sharp focus. |

Pine trailby Dim7Comment by Glen King: Nice pic, but it lacks something to really make it interesting. Yes the green trail does sort of lead the eye, but to what? Add a person or something to make it more interesting. |

Pine trailby Dim7Comment by David.C: Shooting straight down the trail draws the eye fine, however there is no place for it to go -- the trail just ends with no indication that it continues on past that point. If the shot had been taken at a bit more of an angle, say with the trail travelling from the lowever left to the upper-right third corner, the trail would attempt to draw the viewer in even further with the appearance that it continues. |

Pine trailby Dim7Comment by e301: I'll be really interested to see how this scores - it's the kind of terrritory I've tried to shoot for myself, but with no real success: I think it perhaps requires more mystical light, or perhaps fog or mist, to give a sense of drama and depth. One of those scenes that is quite pleasing to experience, but somehow never photographs convincingly without a lot of work. |

Abstractby Dim7Comment by unknowndeath: I know the rules of engagement for this contest is for an abstract photograph. I know you used a photograph and I am sure it fits well under the description but I think however your suppose to maintain some photographic integrity. I don't know how well that covers for maintaining the look of a photograph and still being abstract the orignal picture doesn't look like it had any sort of focus before its conversion into a painting and then to change it perceptual viewing direction further defragments the views alter perception of a photograph. If this was printed or I saw it under other pretenses I might mistake it for an abstract painting. Sorry it doesn't cut it for the photography and you would have increased the tonality its very bland. |

Pine trailby Dim7Comment by Sammie: Nice colors, like the way you have captured the sunlight and shade. The focus on the grass is a bit soft. |
