In terms of tone and contrast I think this works very well. Having said that maybe the tree could be positioned a little more off centre, and that the image would work better with more rule of thirds applied...either that or hack the smaller trees to the immediate left and right down to give more of a sense of isolation! ;)

Just a touch more contrast. Perhaps put the tree a bit more to the right. Love the clouds. This does make you want to really look at it. Nice.
