Oh no, I don't think that's a negative at all. Bear_Music, the landscape extraordinaire, talks about that all that time -- about the effectiveness of images without subjects. This one is gorgeous. And like you say, its the soft dreamy simplicity and the fact that it draws you into the whole scene without having you zoom in on any one thing that makes it works.

Is that snow in those grasses. This is really beautiful!

Sure looks bleak and wintery in your area. I have tried many times to get this type shot in the tall grass, and it is quite a trick to get it to look good in a pic. I am with you on the "no definite subject" comment.

It is a close crop but it also adds interest to the picture with the focus right on the texture of the thistle.

The zoom lets you show great detail, but I wish the top and bottom were not cut off. I think it would work well if you turned the camera 90 degrees.

I know what you mean about the zoom but only because the top of the thistle has been cut off a little, I really like this though, the colours are great and the detail is beautiful.
