He Who Holds the Key Gains Entrance to My Heartby SquishyBComment by gjumi: How am I to see your intension of this photo, expressed by the title, without reading the title? I just see some scattered old keys, which can be interesting subject by itself, if photographed properly. And the postprocessing leaves to be desired. |

Lines and Angles in Perfect Harmonyby SquishyBComment by jpochard: For this to be more effective, I would have liked the whole set of keys in focus and clear. Personally, I like keyboard shots that are pulled back just a bit more than this one. I love the simplicity of a black and white keyboard, though. I agree that it's a very photogenic instrument and one I've always wanted to play. I play the guitar, which does have the benefit of being much more portable! :) |

Abundant Povertyby SquishyBComment by jpochard: I like this idea and the lighting is good. I would have liked to have seen the pennies totally fill the frame - without the lighter background that is showing at the top. Maybe a few more pennies at varying angles for composition. |

Snowy Outlookby SquishyBComment by jpochard: This one has wonderful composition, which I think is it's strong point. The angle of the fence, the forground grasses and the trees in the background all work together well. The tones and brightness are very distracting to me. I would like to see this one re-editing for a more subtle, less blue effect and some darker tones. |

Autumn Placematsby SquishyBComment by Jaded_Housewife: this is done very well actually. great detail and colors, focus, lines. all of that is good. I dig it. I assume what happened here is just lack of wow factor. maybe in comparison to some other shots in the challenge. It's a technically great shot. It just lacks emotion or anything like that to grab the viewers attention. I would however expect something like this to score higher in general. 5.5 at least. I'm not sure what happened here. |

Snowy Outlookby SquishyBComment by Jaded_Housewife: This looks very washed out or over exposed. a lot of detail had been lost in the lighter areas. It's also too blue overall. Which works for some photographers on this site but is hard to pull off. I think when going with overall blues you want Darkers blue tones, the lighter ones aren't as asthetically pleasing.

137 Matchesby SquishyBComment by Jaded_Housewife: What's weird to me with this shot is that I can't tell what they are being held up in. silly putty?, playdoh? It's not clear and that's confusing. Also the pinkish tones take attention away from the matches which aren't sharp enough. your D.O.F. is just too shallow at 3.2, with a static subject you should be able to get the aperature up providing you have a tripod. If not I suggest getting one. The colors look oversaturated as well. Which in general is a good thing on DPC but with this you've gone just a bit too far.

137 Matchesby SquishyBComment by Rob O: Very creative and well executed. The only critique I have is that the match heads are a bit soft; this image would really pop if they were sharper. Still, a pleasing image. *8* |
