The background seriously detracts from this photo. Otherwise an absolutely gorgeous shot.

good crisp subject however the background color and texture does clash a bit with the subject matter

The background is a little distracting, I can't really decide if I like it (the bkgrd) or not. Very pretty rose though -6

Nice detail on the flowers. The background could be a lot better IMO.

It is a beautiful rose and buds and good for the theme. I only wish the background was different. I don't like the texture against the soft rose. It competes too much, I'd prefer a smooth background.

score - 5

This is somewhat of a stretch for me regarding the challenge, but I don't mind a stretch if the outcome is better then average.. I think you could have gotten away with a tighter crop, maybe focusing on the line up to the gentleman in the brown shirt.. It still would have shown the line & it would have made it a bit more intimate.. And, there would have been less to distract the eye.. :-)

The white's seem pretty blown out so I'm guessing this was the mid part of the day and it was a very grey sky or overcast.. I find that I always seem to shoot at the wrong time of day and using the "s" curve really can help that.

I do love images of people who don't seem to realize their picture is being taken and you did a great job at capturing that.. I think if you added a small thin black border, then it would have done this justice and finished it off..

Nice job on the focusing and maybe just a touch more of sharpness this would have been a 6.. Overall, you met the challenge and turned in a nice capture!! Keep up the nice work.. :-)

This comment courtesy the Viral Comment Experiment (VCE). The VCE is an experiment to see if a large number of quality comments can be generated in a fashion similar to chain letters. The first time you receive a VCE comment, randomly choose five (5) images from this challenge (or another challenge) and leave quality, useful comments/critiques like this one. Make sure to mention good things as well as bad things. Then, see how many you receive in return over the next few weeks. Make sure you copy this VCE notice at the end of each comment. [Obligatory chain letter threat] If you do not make five quality comments within 24 hours, your hard drive will crash and your camera's shutter will fail at an inopportune moment.

Closes too closely on some individuals. A little overexposed. I think it would be better if the photographer backed off and showed the line from a distance...

I am not a good photographer, I do not claim to be better than anyone, any criticism is meant to be constructive criticism......
