Dangling Wildby JPRComment by ogdenm: Cropping needs to be applied, or you ought to have had more space to the left |

Stranger to the Groundby JPRComment by Neil: Since I have not had a chance to comment on this before, and it seems to be the topic for the day, let me do so now. I gave this an above average score for a photo that meets the challenge (I think scores should be anonymous, with maybe exception of those giving 1s, so I try not to tell). I do like the capture of the diver, and the composition and crop is good. I also like the texture given by the noise, and the colors of the sky.
However, the flare doesn't work at all for me. I think it works for some people because they see it as an "object", as if this was the moon with the diver just below. That would indeed be very nice! But it's flare. ;-) There's also some other small defects which detract and influenced my scoring (which was still pretty good): a large white spot or something like that just above it, and the fact that the diver is oversharpened, which is what makes him stand out with contrast (but unnaturally IMHO). |

Stranger to the Groundby JPRComment by e301: No No No. What's WRONG with these voters man? I knew it had elements that pdc would hate, but to score under 5 with such an atmospheric shot is a shambles: there should be a minute's silence. My highest rated shot of the challenge - and you should take comfort in the votes from people like crabappl, Catherine and magnetic.

Stranger to the Groundby JPRComment by e301: Intersting effect of light - is this taken through a window? The graininess, and the bleeding away of light in the corners helps the mystery of it, though the white pentagon is weird. Intersting stuff, thankyou for submitting it. |

Stranger to the Groundby JPRComment by Catherine: Even though the moon looks like an ad for Chrysler (smile) I think this is simply wonderful. You have captured perfectly the floaty motion of chute falling. Beautiful contrast and blur treatment. If you'd had a round moon, I'd have called this a ten and a half. -9 |
