Winter Waterfrontby NikonJebComment by Donna21: I scored this a 6. I definitely saw (and appreciated) the quiet beauty. OTOH, there was something about the processing (in the building and the tree in front of it) that seems harsh/over processed. Maybe too much contrast? I'm not good enough myself to pin it down, but it conflicted w/ the mood and pulled the score down for me. |

Winter Waterfrontby NikonJebComment by krnodil: A great landscape shot with great lighting - all good. To make it stand out from the pack though, that's another thing entirely, especially in one of these huge free studies. From my perspective, the composition here is good, but it is also, to be fair, predictable. I like another commenter's suggestion you get down lower, try a different perspective. This really is a good location - maybe also try a similar shot with a wider angle, so you can get closer and not lose the breadth of view as you have here? |

Winter Waterfrontby NikonJebComment by Kelli: Jeb, I think this is a beautiful shot and gave it an 8 in voting. Peaceful and serene is what immediately came to my mind when i first saw this. I could imagine being in the cabin, in front of a fireplace looking out over the calm water. |

Winter Waterfrontby NikonJebComment by figaro: I'm scratching my head trying to think of how you could have improved this one. The subject is lovely and the composition completely appropriate. Perhaps a wider view taking in more of the river? I'm not sure the lighting is perfect - the house doesn't attract much interest as it's shrouded largely in darkness - if it were lit up a little more I think the effect would be better. But a great winter shot - I'm quite jealous as it hasn't settled at all over here! |

New for 1939! The Fabulous Falcon Model 4!by NikonJebComment by dtremain: Very nicely exposed shot - nice trade-offs between the dark on teh bellows & ring around lens with the start white on the box. Your title works against you "new" and the condition of the box don't match. You'll probably get complaints about the "harsh shadows"... |

Winter Waterfrontby NikonJebComment by Bilberry: I know that there's a better picture here if you get down lower so that there is more of interest in the foreground. |
