Sister Maryby ZeusComment by MaryO: Not my sister! Focus on the head is sharp where it matters. Lighting is a bit harsh, which makes the shadows and the legs equally dark on my monitor. |

Preflight Complete It's Time to Perform!by ZeusComment by Zeus: Hi Tome!
Actually I did. I work UNICOMs for air shows in California (so far) and this one was on the Catalina Island. I met Vicky Benzing and gave her this shot as a Windows Wallpaper. I also have many of the pilots and performers on my email photo list. Thank you for your appreciative comment. My favorite photo subject is aircraft, mostly helicopters and they present quite a challenge. Getting the rotors or propellers properly blurred means a shutter speed at about 1/80 so try a panning shot at that speed and see if you get an acceptable, sharp photo. My best made the MD Helicopters calender and the wall of the Fresno Co Sheriff's airborne division. But DPC'ers mostly vote my aircraft photos down and I find that frustrating. Like a fine wine and beer, it's an acquired taste, or an ingrained fascination with flight. And photography.
Avalon's show is unique that the airport launches the show aircraft, but the show is off shore outside the Avalon Bay 5 miles away where I can't see them, so I don't get the aerobatic performances like I do at the other shows, like Marysville.
BTW, my photos of this event are posted at //photo.sagerquist.net/UNICOM-AVX-Oct2014.html
and the other events are listed at //photo.sagerquist.net/UNICOMs.html

They Shoot Photographers Don't They?by ZeusComment by littlemav: Good job in advanced making it look like the bullets are coming towards me, curious to see what your DOF was. Reason I ask is I wonder what this would look like with a GIANT DOF |

They Shoot Photographers Don't They?by ZeusComment by jgirl57: I upped this vote because it was not your normal laying on the table kind of gun, after looking at this a bit more, I really like how the bullets look like they were flying out of the gun from being shot.
Interesting concept to it.. |
