I was sure I left a comment here, but no sign of it. I think that there must be a mirrored ceiling involved. The distortion adds an interesting effect. It makes the bottom half look like people are in a tank of water.

My guess is people beyond the foreground doors with a screen or blind on the far side of them, all casting shadows and lights onto the doors. That doesn't explain the clear part at the top, does it? Maybe there is condensation on the doors that doesn't go all the way up. Maybe just the angle of the light means that it only falls onto part of the doors.
