Good attempt. I think the colors are a little over powering, and the lighting is a little hard. Also, if the face was turned slightly towards the camera, with a less "forced" look, it may have been better. Good shot though

The colour in this photo is just stunning, the DOF and the detail on the bird near perfect. What a difficult photo to take and you have done it well. The angle and position of the bird is a little odd, but given the difficulty of shooting birds I can understand why. I think it is an interesting photo, and it definitely grabs your attention, partially because it is so unique. In this case the odd works for you!
