Hide and Seek by
pgirish007Comment by posthumous: I know where you are.
You always go to the same place,
the place I'm not allowed to go.
I've been leaning on this tree for five minutes.
The bark looks like elephant skin.
You've had enough time to settle into a stream,
to fold up into clouds,
to tuck yourself under the lawn,
but I know where you are.
You'll call me on my birthday.
I know exactly what sounds will come through on the call,
the names of the children yelling, the species of the birds,
the number of trucks on the road.
But I'll never find you,
because you can't see me.
