To the Stars by RefractedComment by Quadrajet: Beautiful Aurora shot! With the recent events, I figured someone would enter a shot like this. Unfortunately I didn't get to see it because of the cloud cover, but I can tell from your image that it was a beautiful event. I really like how you included the trees and the house at the bottom of time image, it gives the image a strong anchor from which the Aurora can shine. Beautiful shot. |

To the Stars by RefractedComment by BobsterLobster: Ah, I recognise this one from the forums. A stunning, opportunistic shot, my only negative is that I don't like the houses and lights at the bottom. I love the tree silhouettes though. I think it would have looked better with the lights at the bottom cropped out, but I think others may disagree. It feels a little shoehorned into the challenge though, because my attention is drawn to the light in the sky, which is definitely not infinite. Score: 7 |

To the Stars by RefractedComment by Natator: Awesome. To be honest, if I hadn't seen photos similar to this in the last few days, with the Northern Lights being so amazing, I'd have had to say I thought it was a fake .... but these lights really are that amazing! I am jealous you got to enjoy such a magnificent display .... and took such a great photo. I love the way the buildings are lit against the black trees as well. |

To the Stars by RefractedComment by JPR: Yes, this should do quite quite well. I recently went to alaska for two weeks and NEVER saw the northern lights. The phosphorescence in the water was pretty cool though. :) Did you neat image this or was it a slow shutter with wind? |

Out in the Fieldby RefractedComment by BobsterLobster: Nice duotone, lovely range of tones. Great sky. Composition doesn't work for me though, maybe 'rule of thirds' could have helped you here. The composition also seems a bit flat without an extra element to add interest. 6 |
