Next stop: The Gulf.by SharQComment by DrJOnes: This photo is very well executed. It is REALLY nice. Unfortunatly, I really don't see any despair int his image by itself. 6/10 for that reason. |

Next stop: The Gulf.by SharQComment by jimmyn4: Forgive me if this is a different photographer but I believe this photo belongs in the Stock Photo challenge. It is much better than the other submission. This photo doesn't reflect despair in my opinion. I do think this a very nice shot. If you had the soldier looking to the right I think it would have been better. There's too much negative space on the right for this guy to be looking forward. This picture would have gotten an 8 in the other challenge but I'm giving it a 5 here. Sorry I don't see despair. |

Stock: Military and Defenceby SharQComment by jimmyn4: The soldiers are a bit dark but that's the camo. No action shots? I'd be more inclined to purchase a photo of these guys training than standing. The soldier on the right should really keep an eye on where his weapon is pointed, not very safe. You'll have to forgive me I am a safety NCO for my unit. 6 |

Stock: Military and Defenceby SharQComment by joanns: You usually don't see the soldiers smiling - this could be a recruitment ad. Good exposure. It does bother me that the other two men have their backs turned. |

Stock: Military and Defenceby SharQComment by rmahan: If I were buying images like a picture editor does I might find it hard to use this one to illustrate "Military and Defence" as you suggest in your title. I would worry that the rifle is pointed toward the head of one of the soldiers (it might not be, it just could be taken that way) and that demonstrates carelessness ... not something I want in the military. The focus is on the mark and the background is not distracting from your main subjects. |

Past, Present and Futureby SharQComment by BAMartin: Critique Club Critique
(1) COMPOSITION (CONTENT) The composition here is alright but definately could be stronger. There does not seem to be a particular subject and the viewers eye tends to wander a bit instead of coming to rest somewhere. The bright "C" draws the eye at first, but does not have enough interest to hold for long.
(2) BACKGROUND The background is very dark, it does not distract from the subject, although the main objects tend to fad into the back ground a bit.
(3) CAMERA WORK ,TECHNICAL I wish there had been a bit more light so that more details of the cans could be seen. I would especially like to see more of the can on the left, the crumples and ridges wuld have added some interesting texture if they could be seen more clearly.
(4)MEETING THE CHALLENGE This photo a fair job of meeting the challenge. If you still have the can with the "C" cut out, you might try to play with it a bit more. I feel that this photo has greater potential than is seen from this particular shot. |
