Eggby SharQComment by HBunch: *Critique Club*
This is a very nice low key shot. Not what I had envisioned "black on black" to be, but I definately see how it could be considered that way. Since I'm not voting though, who cares what I think. lol
I think that the lighting is wonderful. Really nicely lit on the egg and egg cup. I like how it only shows a slight bit of the subject and leaves the rest to our imagination.
The negative space is great. I dont think there is too much at all. I think that the negative space is what really makes this visually appealing to me. The lighting is awesome, but I don't think it would have the same punch if it were centered in the frame.
Focus and clarity look to be good, it's hard to tellm but seems just fine to me. Had it been blurry looking, I think it would be obvious and non appealing.
Overall a really nice job. Definately a good shot, and I don't really have any suggestions on improvement, as the whole shot appeals to me.
Great shooting!

Work at 97 knots: 1943 Fairey Swordfish torpedo bomberby SharQComment by Swashbuckler: Great shot of the airplane! To me, this seems more like "play" than work as these aircraft were retired several decades ago. The people may be "working" in the sense of a flight demo or such....still it's hard to call this "at work" (don't worry, it's not a huge score effect). 8 Rob the Swash |

Eggby SharQComment by adine: This is great - how little light it takes to suggest "egg" I like the touch of highlight onthe top of the egg and the rim on the left side of the cup. I'd like to see how it loooks with a bit of light to suggest the base. 8 |

Lo-fi Self Portrait in Sepiaby SharQComment by byetko: Critique Club Critique:
First of all I have to say I really liked this shot and it got a 9 from me.
Composition wise your pose is excellent and so is your facial expression. Maybe lowering your left hand and exposed all of your face might have helped just a little bit.
Technically wise I wish you would have used a greater depth of field. It seems that the part of the photo that has the sharpest focus is your right thumb and palm. I like how the ends of your fingers are a little blurred but your face seems a tad soft to me in comparrison to your hand. Don't get me wrong, I love soft focus but not when your hand is so sharp and this is after all a self portrait. Besides that the lighting is good as is the tonal range. Plus im such a sucker for B&W and sepia so that almost always works for me. The shadows on the wall add another element to the photo which balances to almost create a square around you.
Overall this is a very creative shot which shows much character in you which in my opinion is the best thing about self portraits. It doesn't just show you...it shows who you really are. Good job.
