Kookaburraby moodvilleComment by scalvert: Really great capture. Nice catchlight and detail. The background colors look like a studio backdrop. Would have scored well in Wildlife. (9) |

Mountain Lion by moodvilleComment by pmichaud: Beautiful colors... Great expression!! It's hypnotic. I love the overall tawnyness of the picture. These cats are pretty thick around this area although we rarely see them. A couple of years ago, one ventured into the Holy Cross Abbey during morning prayers. A woman was kneeling at prayer, when the mountain lion just walked up the aisle and lay down in front of the alter. I imagine that the woman's prayers changed just about then!! She got out o.k., and the DOW tranquilized the lion and moved him to a less populated area.
Beautiful capture. Good luck in the challenge. |

Mountain Lion by moodvilleComment by zeuszen: An fine image in exquisite earth colours, texture and tones. The juxtaposition of the utterly relaxed posture of this wholesome cat with its confident gaze communicates, to me, an intimate moment. The soft illumination falling in from the left is either very fortunate or apt for the range of fine textures 'painted' by it. Delectable also is the filigrée of the whiskers, even the brow above the eye.
The photo is extremely tightly cropped, without which, I suppose, we would be left with a fraction of the detail that makes this image. The cat's left paw, however, is 'nicked' by it. Perhaps, a minimally thinner border would have left it intact while still providing sufficient 'lift' off the page it is presented on?
Red is the ribbon colour I chose for this remarkably satisfying capture. |
