The whole thing is in shadow making the hammock the center of focus not the shadow.

makes me wanna sleep. You have shadows in here but it doesn't work well. You have a noisy pattern with the threads of the hammock and then you have a random pattern sort of shadow with hot spots of light. They all sort of clash. This pattern might just be too noisy for any sort of shadow pick, unless of course, its casting the shadow itself.
