Nice situation. I feel that the dog is not isolated enough from the surroundings (perhaps a shallower DOF could have made it?).

I seem to get a few of your shots in this :)

First impressions are that the shot is nice and crisp but a little awkward. The detail in the bird is great and the bits of ice on the bird are very thought provoking. It is clear the bird is dead and that will invoke some emotion in the viewer (not always good for your scores). It may be due to the ice being white that we lose some detail and thus a lot of understanding of the depth involved but it feels like you were walking along, saw the bird on the ground, and took a shot from above. This is what I meant earlier by "feels awkward". Somehow the POV and the centered composition combine to give that awkwardness.

Overall it conveys the challenge theme well and probably deserved a slightly higher score on the tones and detail alone.
