Steve, I didn't vote on the challenge but I think you were robbed. This should have scored higher IMHO. I really like the sharp focus and vivid colors. The sky is very noise free, did you use NeatImage or is it that good coming out of the camera? Looks repetitious to me, I can envision the apartments going on forever. Nice Job.

My mentor of sorts always tells me this, 'your shot has to much going on, you need to make choices about what is really important in your shot' and that is my advice to you. There are too many factors here, and no real focal point. I think the sign and the palm tree, niether of which repeat are distracting. perhaps try re-shooting focusing only on the in between balconies and fireplaces. just an idea. BTW your shot is sharp, well done there.

Another picture that takes me back. I used to live in Eureka CA for a while too. My mother lives in a small little town inbetween Redding and Eureka ( Big Bar) I used to play in these parts as a young girl. Love the picture!!

I don't think the negative space really enhances this picture - the picture seems almost not to exist at all. I'd have liked to see the lower left corner a bit larger, still with plenty of negative space.
