on commercial shoots I've worked on we've added steam with a steam machine, and lit it with a light from the side with a tin foil "funnel" on it to just light the steam really bright.

So the steam machine would have a hose through the bottom of the table or a flexible tube through the back of the spaghetti with lots of holes in it maybe -

But the light from the side is what really brings it to life.

THAT is a helluva shot. This recreates a moment of intimacy and abandon. Who cares about the toning, its the passion exhibited, the giving over that can be heady and intoxicating and damn if you didn't just get it right here. The lipstick on the cheek really adds something to this shot for me; the stubble not so much but its the action of seeing his lip stretched out in your teeth that makes this shot work. Fantastic recreation of such a subtly powerful moment in a relationship.
