There's a strange effect going on in the shot. Perhaps this has been over sharpened? Nice composition though.

Comment by Teafran:
Adams was a photographer with an eye for the simple and while there are elements of that in this image, it is much to busy to truly evoke an impression of Adams or even an homage. However, as a duo tone image, it works on several levels and technically, is a good demonstration of tone control even if it's overly gray.

Comment by Siggav:
It's a beautiful landscape, the photo itself is a little too low contrasty for me as in there are blacks missing atleast on my screen, especially since Ansel Adams was so good at handling the tones in black and white images.

I do love the tiny figures off to the side there.

This looks horribly pixelated. Either it is from a cellphone, or you used a wrong resizing method.
If this is from a cellphone, I'd suggest you to try avoiding, as much as possible, shooting stuff featuring fine patterns (like bricks).

this is really, really well done..but you have a haziness that is hanging in the middle of your shot...did you do a gradient...I really think that would have improved that area...your water is so very richly toned as you sky is...but the center of the picture (mountains) is quite hazy

What makes it for me is the circle in the water. Gorgeous.

Greetings from the Critique Club

As far as meeting the challenge topic, I'm afraid this image is probably relying too much on the title. That said, I do think it is an interesting and creative way of looking at this and certainly beats the kids and pets shots (in my not so humble opinion!) hands down. But for DPC of course, I think it will hurt you a lot when the only link to the challenge is the title.

Technically speaking, of course, the completely blown out sky hurts you a lot. The composition also feels a bit too cramped. Maybe if you had stood a bit further back and got more of the whole street in the shot? I loved that the colours of the walls matched the colours in the laundry.

Sorry it didn't do better, but it was a quite brave image for this challenge.

Great structure, but it looks oversharpened.
