Compositionally, this is a very interesting image and a creative take on the challenge. The repeating face almost gives a sense of the day after day routine that many women do. The squarish crop makes it feel a touch static, I think.
Technically, I think you have done well at making the skin tones and other colors work, and her eyes are captivating. I think the single drawback, as someone mentioned, was the feeling of a lack of focus. It appears that the eye in the "middle face" is the most focused, but the others aren't quite as much so.
Again, you have met the challenge and met the challenge well. Best to you in future challenges.

ButterflyGirlby Rino63Comment by rodgers_le: A bit over sharpened I think, though I like the position of the insect within the frame of the photo. |

First Impressions
A nice specimen of this part of the world that shows man's engineering skills to get around it.
Photograph Information, Technicals & Composition Review
Whilst the blue is rich, the barely discernible gradient seems out of balance upper right. The scene doesn't seem to be placed within the frame in a way that leads the eyes in and around to explore. It would have been good to see a little tighter crop if the quality was there and be able to see more detail in the mountain face, that or a little more context, more background mountains showing the land formations may have given this some added interest. As is, the crop looks like parts are missing, such as below the road at the bottom of frame, the upper left peak of the mountain and the distant mountains to the right.
Comments, Score & Placement Review
53/182 with a score of 5.30 is not such a strong showing for this Challenge - I suspect that, whilst the geological formation is good, there was no main focal point, or feature placement compositionally, to hold a viewer's attention and draw them in to linger for a while. Your commenter's provide some good feedback and there are some helpful points made too.
Summary
A more refined crop and choosing a section of the image to feature more would likely have given this image a bit more of an edge. As rich as the sky is, it probably dominates the subject a little too much. |

Tristezzaby Rino63Comment by Ecce_Signum: Greetings from Andi via the Critique Club
First Impression: Rather than being drawn to the texture of the dead flowers I'm distracted by the rather boring wall.
Composition: The central composition isn't doing this image any harm, then again, its not very interesting.
Tecnical: This doesn't 'pop' or have any 'wow' factor for me, exposure is ok but the focus is a little soft in places
Artistic: For me this is rather bland and have much artistic value sorry.
Overall thoughts: I guess you chose this location for the nice little crack? but I think it was the wrong choice. I just glanced at your profile and saw your top 2 submissions are flowers and am sure you agree that they are so much better than this. 5.5 is a good final score I think.
Get in touch if you'd like to discuss further Gennaro. |
