Sometimes, just because of the challenge topic, a really good image gets beaten up. I really like this one, the composition, the mood, and yes, i feel that beaten up stem suits the image, wouldn't have fixed it even in an advanced editing challenge
I guess the colours not being saturated enough is what might have put the voters off.
I happened to just browse to your profile, and instantly liked this one.

Bokeh is great, but the main problem is likely the blown highlight on the flower. Your eyes get drawn to that bright spot and you don't notice the rest. For the average voter who spends 5 secs looking at the picture this is all they will notice.

Hmm, I'm a bit puzzled on this one. 4.99? I'd likely have given it a 6. I think the composition is nice and the bokeh is quite nice here. Umm, well, it was a flower. That probably made the score a bit lower. The flower is just a bit blown, that doesn't help. While I think the background is properly exposed, the greens of the subject are a bit underexposed. So it looks like tough lighting. You could probably have changed things in PS a bit, but you are limited in basic editing.

VERY COOL- I like the subtlety of it. Great focus on her face and eyes. Love the freckles. The movement of her hair and earring is just enough to really work for the challenge. Good job. 10

I'm at a loss here. It looks like your sensor is rather dirty or your lens has water spots on it, and I'm not really feeling like she's in much wind to tell you the truth.
