And You're So Far Away From Meby RebeccaComment by mpeters: Not as high of a finisher as i expected. I really liked the emptyness of this picture. I love mountains of any type! I dont think the moon was integral to the picture, especially as it related to the challenge. Even though the pic uses negative space well, the feeling of desolation might have been strengthened with a little more of the barren mountain showing. Loved the title and gave it a 7 FWIW. |

And You're So Far Away From Meby RebeccaComment by DrAchoo: Desolation was a tricky challenge. First 5.3 isn't bad at all, but to get the higher score you needed to carry that desolate feel AND have a subject of emphasis. Certainly this is as desolate as any shot...but it doesn't have something to grab our eye. In fact, the moon does that the most, which pulls us away from the desolate mountainside.
Look at the Top 10 shots and notice how they capture the same feel, but still have a subject. Message edited by author 2006-06-26 16:17:48. |

Poolside Polishby RebeccaComment by yanko: Greetings from CTP2
Let me first say this should have scored higher. You may be right about why it didn't score higher but it could also be the neatimage, IMO. In any case it was a good entry. What I especially liked about this was the lighting and also the texture. The image also has a good tonal range and the whites and blacks are perfect. All in all a very good technical image that met the challenge. |

Poolside Polishby RebeccaComment by alexgarcia: Hello from Ãlex, CTP MkII
First Impression: agree completely with your notes about luxury. Nice and clever shot.
Composition: as you say the foot alone would have been weird, and the book helps. My only but is that the book is too perfectly aligned to the foot, and seems a bit "posed" to me.
Subject: very good for the challenge
Technical: focus OK, lighting OK, colors OK, but I would have liked a bluer pool.
Improvement: make the water a little more dark blue with selective colors and saturation.
Summary: good shot and keep indulging...
