Although I like the shot as is, for the sake of the topic, I might suggest a cut clove would have conveyed a more intense 'scent' feel. Certainly even uncut cloves have a scent, though, and it's a very appetizing layout you have as is.

Great light - though something odd is happening on the fringes of the shadws - looks almost like spilt blood, but follows the shadow line so much it almost has to be a processing artefact. I think the background garlic is unnecceary for such a simple image. Great work on the texture of the skins though. One thing you have achieved is the closeness necessary to make me think of aroma: when one tries to smell something, one moves closer to it.

Very nice journalistic shot. The sunlight has almost overexposed some lighter areas but I think this survives due to the feeling the light gives to the scene. Very good depth and clarity.

What happened to your red channel? It's well set up and I like the composition and lighting, but the red, in my opinion, lowers the quailty of the shot.

I know the main point of interest is the clove but the soft focus on the foreground part is disturbing. Good detail and exposure.
