Yes, the Ruby-crowned Kinglets will migrate in soon. They are common and numerous. The Golden-crowned Kinglets live in the tallest, oldest Spruce forests at a higher elevation. Much more rare and VERY difficult to photograph. I mean, I get to see them up 30' in the big Spruces, but they are shy, shy, shy.

We also have black-capped chickadees, but the mountain chickadees are more common in the high country. Other than the obvious differences in markings, the vocalizations are very different. So, I don't even need to see the bird to tell which is in the tree, bush, etc.

Cold, yes! The water is fresh snow melt. And, those are snow flakes being blown by the wind. I think it was 28 degrees F. at the time of this image capture.
