Yes, the Ruby-crowned Kinglets will migrate in soon. They are common and numerous. The Golden-crowned Kinglets live in the tallest, oldest Spruce forests at a higher elevation. Much more rare and VERY difficult to photograph. I mean, I get to see them up 30' in the big Spruces, but they are shy, shy, shy. |

We also have black-capped chickadees, but the mountain chickadees are more common in the high country. Other than the obvious differences in markings, the vocalizations are very different. So, I don't even need to see the bird to tell which is in the tree, bush, etc. |

Cold, yes! The water is fresh snow melt. And, those are snow flakes being blown by the wind. I think it was 28 degrees F. at the time of this image capture. |
